The approach and knowledge about elder abuse has been growing in the last decades, as well as the interest on the part of the citizens and the political and technical estates of the different public administrations. In order to intervene in a coherent and effective manner, the networking of institutions must be the referent and the engine of change in society in the development of durable solutions that meet the basic needs of people and generate equal opportunities.
This manual is the result of a broader process of methodological accompaniment to the creation of circuits and the elaboration of action protocols in the regions of Anoia, Alt Penedès and Maresme (Catalonia, Spain). This is why the main objective is to offer the necessary tools for the creation of a territorial model that can effectively address elder abuse. The model is accompanied by the necessary instructions for the correct design of an intervention circuit and for the elaboration of its corresponding coordination protocol. The manual offers a step-by-step accompaniment for the creation of a local or territorial model to approach this phenomenon, through the design of a circuit and the elaboration of a protocol, through a series of guidelines that should guide services and resources in dealing with elder abuse.
This publication is the result of collaboration with the Department of Labor, Social Affairs and Families of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Diputación de Barcelona, the county councils and entities of the regions of Anoia, Alt Penedès and Maresme, and of the ‘la Caixa’ Obra Social.
