Manlleu Coexistence and Interculturality Plan

Provincial Government of Barcelona

Challenge

In 2023 the Manlleu Coexistence Plan 2019-2023 comes to an end, and the City Council wants to draw up a new plan for the next four years. The process of drawing up this document represents an opportunity to take another step forward in the recognition of the diversity of the municipality, and to continue promoting the paradigm of interculturality as a tool to make Manlleu a municipality where people not only live together, but also coexist: in short, so that the policies of the City Council actively contribute to promoting equity and equality of rights and duties, the recognition of cultural diversity and positive interaction and dialogue between the entire population of the municipality. The Plan for coexistence and interculturality 2024-2028 will be the municipality’s new strategic planning tool for coexistence.

Response

The Coexistence and Interculturality Plan has been drawn up following a participatory methodology, facilitating dialogue between the technical and political team of Manlleu Town Council, as well as with the organisations and the population of the municipality. Working sessions were held with the technical team of the City Council, as well as with representatives of the organisations and the population of the municipality. The convening of these spaces was designed to guarantee the diversity of the participants, in terms of gender, age and cultural context of origin. The proposals received were analysed and assessed in terms of their suitability and sustainability; subsequently, the actions of the plan were specified and the corresponding objectives and axes were ordered. In addition, the plan’s monitoring and evaluation system has been designed.
