The Mental Health Federation of Catalonia started a project to develop guides for relatives and educators / professionals of children and young people with mental health problems.
The intention of the guides is to improve the recovery and inclusion of children and young people with mental health problems by promoting positive mental health and tertiary prevention. In order to be able to carry out this health promotion, the aim is to give tools to key agents who live with children and young people with mental health problems in order to deal with situations of tension and conflict.
As stated in Catalonia’s Mental Health Master Plan, the mental health of children and young people also requires an environment that promotes care and empowerment, beyond what the clinical treatment itself already provides.
Answer
Spora Sinergies draws up a guide that presents contents designed to transmit navigation and accompaniment guidelines in order to know how to be and better deal with possible situations of tension and conflict in children, adolescents and young people with mental health problems.
The verb to navigate explains the orientation of this guide because it allows us to understand mental health situations as something variable, where circumstances are changing. This means that corrections need to be made to maintain the direction of the relationship with children, adolescents and young people with a mental health problem. Having guidelines for navigating means having the knowledge to make decisions that allow you to set a course and correct it as many times as necessary in the face of situations faced by children, adolescents and young people with mental health problems.
The contents of the guide are focused on providing guidance for families and other figures accompanying children, adolescents and young people. Continuing with the idea of navigating, through mental health situations, the guide focuses on staging those elements that are significant in giving meaning to the situation of children, adolescents and young people, as well as those elements necessary to be able to draw a course from which to relate to them.
